Payment Types

GovPayPlan supports several payment types to accommodate different agency needs.

One-Time Payments

The most common payment type, used for single transactions.

  • Permit fees
  • License renewals
  • Fines and citations
  • Service fees
  • Event registrations

Processing

One-time payments are processed immediately and settled according to your agency's settlement schedule.

Recurring Payments

Set up automatic payments on a regular schedule.

Use Cases

  • Monthly utility bills
  • Payment plans
  • Subscription services
  • Regular permit renewals

Setting Up Recurring Payments

  1. Navigate to Payments > Recurring
  2. Click New Recurring Payment
  3. Enter payer and payment information
  4. Configure the schedule:
    • Frequency: Weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually
    • Start Date: When payments begin
    • End Date: Optional end date or number of payments
  5. Save the recurring payment

Managing Recurring Payments

From the Recurring Payments list, you can:

  • View payment history for the schedule
  • Edit amount or schedule details
  • Pause payments temporarily
  • Cancel the recurring schedule

WARNING

Cancelling a recurring payment does not refund previous payments. Use the refund process for that.

Scheduled Payments

Process a payment at a future date.

Use Cases

  • Post-dated payments
  • Coordinating with payer's pay schedule
  • Seasonal billing

Setting Up Scheduled Payments

  1. Create a new payment as normal
  2. Check Schedule for later
  3. Select the processing date and time
  4. Submit the scheduled payment

Managing Scheduled Payments

View and manage scheduled payments from Payments > Scheduled:

  • See upcoming scheduled payments
  • Edit payment details before processing
  • Cancel scheduled payments

Payment Plans

Allow payers to split large amounts into installments.

Creating a Payment Plan

  1. Navigate to Payments > Payment Plans
  2. Click New Payment Plan
  3. Enter the total amount
  4. Configure installments:
    • Number of payments
    • Frequency
    • Start date
  5. Collect payer information and payment method
  6. Activate the plan
